What's really happening in the design market, and the shifts your competitors won't catch until next quarter.
How the world's great luxury houses actually compete, evolve, and protect what they've built. We're in those rooms.
Fees, margins, positioning, and the real business logic behind every studio you admire. (And a few you don’t.)
The aesthetic and cultural shifts shaping the next generation of design. We call them early, before they hit the cover of AD.
Behind the Journal
Mr. Thread comes from a small group of operators who've spent decades building companies across textiles, manufacturing, design studios, and luxury commerce. We report from the showroom and the factory floor, not the newsroom.

Mr. Thread — Industry Report
For decades, Georgia’s carpet manufacturers have allegedly been dumping PFAS “forever chemicals” into the water supply. The pollution is so severe that researchers call northwest Georgia “one of the nation’s PFAS hotspots.” Three out of four residents tested had PFAS levels requiring medical screening.
This is not just Georgia’s problem. Shaw and Mohawk carpet are everywhere. If you’ve installed carpet in the last 30 years, there’s a decent chance it came from these mills.
